This Privacy Policy explains how ValueSense ("we", "us") processes personal data when you use valuesense.co.uk and related services. We aim to comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

ValueSense provides commercial property deal-sourcing software for UK developers and investors. For privacy requests, contact us via the email address published on the site or your account billing contact.

2. Data we collect

• Account data — email address, password hash (stored by our auth provider), and profile flags such as Pro subscription status and search usage.
• Usage data — searches you run, pages viewed, and product events needed to operate freemium limits and improve the service.
• Payment data — processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. We may retain Stripe customer/subscription IDs.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and approximate location derived from IP (for security and analytics).

3. How we use data

• To create and secure your account
• To provide Class MA search, map, and underwriting features
• To enforce free-tier limits and manage Pro subscriptions
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, receipts)
• To monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and improve the product

4. Legal bases

We process data where necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the service), where we have a legitimate interest (security, product improvement, analytics), and where required by law. Where consent is required (for example certain cookies/analytics), we will ask for it.

5. Processors and transfers

We use reputable processors to run the product, including:

• Supabase — authentication and database
• Vercel — website hosting
• Render — API hosting
• Cloudflare — object storage for datasets
• Stripe — payments
• PostHog — product/web analytics (when enabled)

Some processors may process data outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards (for example standard contractual clauses).

6. Retention

We keep account and subscription records while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for legal, accounting, and dispute purposes. Analytics events are retained according to our analytics provider's configuration.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection to certain processing. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

8. Property datasets

Deal intelligence is derived from public/licensed datasets (for example EPC and Land Registry sources). Those datasets may include company and property information that is not personal data about you as a user.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
